November Trip to India

In November 2023, Mittelpunkt Personal, represented by our CEO Horst Kraus, made a very productive one-week trip to India. MPP is happy to share some highlights from this memorable visit.

 

International Trading Corporation
After our arrival in Mumbai, we were warmly welcomed at the office of our Indian business partner, International Trading Corporation. Over a cup of warm tea and a traditional lunch, we discussed the details of our new project “Indian Nurses to Germany”, which makes it possible for Indian nurses to learn German for free while studying at best nursing schools across India and thereafter continue their professional careers in Germany.

K J Somaiya College of Nursing
Together with ITC partner, we headed to the K J Somaiya College of Nursing, Maharshtra, ranked among Top 20 promising institutes by SILICON India. Here, we had the opportunity to meet the Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Avani Oke and other representatives of the K J Somaiya College of Nursing exchange thoughts about our further cooperation before signing the MoU in presence.  We also met with nursing students, faculty members and the tutors who will teach German to both BSc-Nursing and GNM streams in the framework of our cooperation. We are proud to one of the best nursing colleges in Mumbai on our side.

SNDT Women’s University
On November 3, a meeting was held with representatives of the Leelabai Thackersey College of Nursing Mumbai affiliated with SNDT Women’s University, which is considered the first Women’s university in India as well as in South-East Asia. MPP got a chance to interact with the Dean, …., and faculty members and give a motivational speech to the nursing students of the LTCN. We were pleased to be welcomed by the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. U. Chakradeo, who personally congratulated us on the beginning of a new era in German-Indian Nursing Cooperation. Later, the first press releases will appear in regional newspapers describing the core of our joint project.

Kanika’s Nursing Academy
On Saturday 4 November, we visited Kanika’s Nursing Academy, North India’s very reputed private nursing academy in Chandigarh where annually over 1000 graduate nurses undergo coaching for IELTS, PET, OET exams to go to UK, Canada, Australia and Ireland. This academy also coaches nurses to sit for competitive exams for job opportunities in government hospitals across India, a preferred destination by many nurses looking for a secured job to settle down in life.

National Institute of Nursing Education PGIMER
National Institute of Nursing Education (NINE), designed as WHO Collaborating Centre for Nursing and Midwifery development, was the venue of NRSI Conference at which MPP was one of the sponsors. We are happy to have met the institute’s Principal, Dr. Sulhpal Kaur, before heading for the NRSI Conference. Dr. Sulhpal Kaur is India’s leading author on geriatric nursing, and her book is considered the bible in all nursing schools that teach geriatric studies. 

Nursing Research Society of India (NRSI)
The NRSI conference is a meeting place for leaders, faculty members and students of nursing schools and universities across India, as well as representatives of foreign labor markets, to discuss major issues, latest developments, achievements, problems, and solutions in healthcare sector. As one of the Speakers, we addressed the conference delegates and shared our thoughts on the career prospects of Indian nurses in Germany.

SGT University
On November 6, we visited the Nursing College of SGT University which is one of the Best Private Universities in Gurgaon, Haryana & Delhi NCR. We were excited to present our German-Indian program for the next years to an audience of the School leaders and faculty, Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr. Atul Nasa at SGT University as well as respected representatives of International Relations from South East Asia. Around 300 young and aspiring nursing students from BSc, MSc and GNM streams heard us with rapt attention. We were honored to witness the functioning of the National Reference Simulation Laboratory, set under the leadership of JHPIEGO and John Hopkins, USA. The NRSL is Asia’s first and one of its kind platform for Nursing graduates to practice their skills before actually touching patients in hospital environment. MPP is especially grateful for the opportunity to light the traditional welcome lamp, a form of special honor for dignitaries visiting India. Following the presentation, the development vector of further cooperation was discussed.

Amity College of Nursing 
On November 7, MPP addressed the students, faculty and Principal Dr. Anu Gaba of Amity College of Nursing in Manesar, Haryana, which is part of Amity University, India’s first private university to boast a foreign language department and a top ranked non-profit institution recognized for pioneering a global culture in education.

Rufaida College of Nursing
Later on, we visited Rufaida College of Nursing in New Delhi, one of the premier and reputed college in Hamdard. Here we interacted with the BSc Nursing graduates interested on overseas opportunities. We were privileged to get audience with Dr. Manju Chughani, Dean of Jamia Hamdard University under which Rufaida School of Nursing Sciences is governed. She is a doyen in nursing education specializing in Obstretics and Gynaecological sciences. books written by her are standard text books across schools in India. She also is on the board of directors at IGNOU, Indian governments open university which promotes distant education in skill based courses for rural population.

National Conference: Society of Public Health, Education, Research and Employment
As one of the sponsoring delegates, we arrived at AIIMS Venue for a dinner as part of the SPHERE Conference, organized by College of Nursing AIIMS, New Delhi, in collaboration with National Academy of Medical Science, New Delhi. At the dinner, we felicitated the conference organizer and Principal of AIIMS College of Nursing Dr. Shashi M, the President of the conference, Dr. Samta Soni and Secretary Dr. Sushma Saini, interacted with some other delegates and young nurses inquiring about German job market in a relaxed atmosphere.

Gandhinagar, the Government of Gujarat
On November 8, MPP headed to the GIFT building hotel in Gandhinagar, owned by Gujarat government. The MPP and ITC had the honor of meeting with the Secretary to the Minister of Skill Development and the Director of Kaushalya – The Skill University, Mrs. Anju Sharma, IAS, as well as the Industries Commissioner, Government of Gujarat, Mr. Sandip Sagle, IAS, to hold a discussion about the future of India-German partnership in healthcare sector.
